Evgeniy Volchkov

Evgeniy Volchkov was born in Moscow, 1982. He graduated from Art school №1 named after N.Rimskiy- Korsakov (the class of domra led by I.E.Svistova and L.V.Korobova). In 2000 he graduated with honors from Moscow regional basic College of music named after A.N. Skryabin, Electrostal city (the class of domra led by honored worker of culture of the Moscow Region N.N.Koroleva, the class of conducting led by V.I.Tarasova). 2000-2005 – the student of Gnesin’s Academy of Music (the class of domra led by Professor R.V.Belov; the class of conducting led by Professor S.M.Kolobkov). 2005-2009 – the doctoral student of Gnesin’s Academy of Music (led by Professor R.V.Belov).

E.Volchkov is the laureate of several contests. They are as follows:

- I All-Russian open domra players contest (Nijniy Novgorod, Russia 2005);

- VI International folk instruments executants contest “North Cup” (Cherepovec, Russia 2006);

- II International contest-festival “Modern Art and Education” (nominated as player-teacher, Moscow 2007);

- VII All-Russian folk instruments executants contest (Vladimir, 2008).

Evgeniy is the Grand-Prix owner of The I Russian Open solo domra players Alexander Tcigankov prize contest (Nijniy Novgorod, Russia 2006).

In 2006 he was awarded the prize established by the RF presidential edict of “State support measures for talented young people”.

In 2007 he the scholar of “Russian performing art” fond.

In 2008 Evgeniy Volchkov was awarded a state scholarship granted to outstanding culture and art people of Russia.

Evgeniy Volchkov participated in festivals in Russia, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Latvia, Hungary, Lebanon, Sweden, Norway, Japan.

2004-2008 – soloist of The Academic Orchestra of Russian folk instruments of the State Russian Television and Radio Company as a soloist of orchestra (The Art Director and conductor People’s Artist of the USSR Nikolay Nekrasov). Evgeniy Volchkov’s performances The Orchestra as a soloist in subscription concerts of The Moscow State Philharmonic Society at The Chuykovskiy’s concert-hall, Moscow International Performing Arts Center, the concert hall of Gnesin’s Academy of Music are always interesting, ingenious and audience gives him the glad-hand.

Since 2008 Evgeniy Volchkov – concertmaster and soloist of the National Academic folk instruments Orchestra of Russia named after N.P.Osipov (The Art Director and conductor People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Andropov).

Evgeniy Volchkov is engaged in intensive concert activity performing as a soloist with leading Russian groups, playing with outstanding musicians band. He has performed in duet with brilliant domra player Daria Karplyuk. (D.Karplyuk is the laureate of all-russian and international contests, a student of Gnesin’s Academy of Music, domra class led by professor A.A.Tsigankov).

In his solo concert activity Evgeniy Volchkov cooperates with great virtuoso piano players: N.Kodratskaya, S.Del’dina, V.Sitnikov, V.Rumyantsev.

Evgeniy Volchkov conducts his dynamic concert activity and propagandizes Russian musical culture not only in Russia, but also abroad. For his high skills of performance admiring German critics named him “Paganini on domra”.

The repertoire of E. Volchkov is vast: from compositions of the Renaissance to music of The Modern Age, including original compositions as well as transcriptions and settings to music, most of which are made by himself.

He engages in methodic activity and often makes interesting and informative reports and master classes dedicated to problems of domra execution at methodic seminars of different levels.

Evgeniy Volchkov is an author of “Folk instruments performers present…” project including the most talented and purposeful musicians. The group performs different programs at concert halls of Moscow and Moscow Region. Due to his active participation in culture life of Moscow District E.A. Volchkov was awarded Certificate of Merit for fruitful work, great contribution to the sphere of aesthetic education and education of the younger generation. The project “Folk instruments performers present…” enjoy popularity among The Moscow State Philharmonic Society subscripcions, Moscow Department of Culture, Moscow musician sociaty.

Since 2008 Evgeniy Volchkov has held position of educational and concert work pro-rector’s deputy at Gnesin’s Academy of Music.
